DFL Veterans Caucus Executive Committee Meeting Minutes - June 6, 2009

I.  The June 1, 2009 DFL (Veterans Caucus) monthly Executive Committee meeting was called to order by Caucus Chair Jim Bootz at 6:00 p. m. at the Hamline Midway Public Library St. Paul MN as communicated to members and other interested persons by Chair Jim Bootz.
 
II. Attendance--Chair Jim Bootz, Associate Chair Nancy Gertner, Secretary  Wayne Wittman, Director John Wexler, staff RoseAnn Zimbro and Tom Dimond.
 
III.  The agenda as prepared by Jim Bootz was accepted by consensus.
 
IV.  Treasurer`s report- The Treasurer was out of the country so there was no Treasurer`s report.
 
V.  Secretary Wittman reported that the minutes of our May 4, 2009 meeting had been distributed as corrected.    Secretary Wittman noted the value to our members of knowing that we are meeting and of the content of our minutes.  The members agreed that the minutes would be sent to the members we have on our roster after drafts had been reviewed and agreed to.
 
VI.  No report on status of the member data base, due to Membership Committee chair's absence.
 
VII.  Status of growing membership using the DFL's VAN system was noted.  Training is scheduled for our July Executive Committee meeting on July13, 2009 at 6:00 p. m.. at the DFL office.
 
VIII.  John Wexler reported that the Nominating Committee had met and that there would be nominations for office at our annual meeting on September 26, 2009.
 
IX.  Jim Bootz described the effort by Organizing for America (OFA) Veterans/Military Families (V/MF), which is to be housed at the DFL office building.  This effort is to promote support of issues.
 
X.  Nancy Gertner distributed a list of events of our caucus.  RoseAnn Zimbro announced we would be responsible to help staff the DFL booth at the State Fair.  Motion to develop a Governor forum for viable candidates seeking the DFL endorsement  for November 14, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 p. m. at either the Lutheran Social Services Center for Changing Lives, the military history museum, Parkview theatre or the State Capitol.  After exploration of available sites Chair Bootz to decide on site. Seconded Carried.
 
 XI.  Motion Seconded to adjourn Carried.
